Aloha!

The weather here has been hot and mostly…rainy. It appears that we brought the rain from Washington with us, there has been a downpour almost every day that we have been here. That’s fine with us though, the clouds and showers are refreshing.

Starting off with a scream!
The first night we arrived we stayed in a nice and comfortable guest room where we could relax after the long flight. Later that evening we were awakened by the most horrible sound I have ever heard. First there was a huge crash on the floor above us and then a scream of death. A few seconds later there was another crash and another horrible scream. I was certain that someone was being attacked so I quickly jumped out of bed. I didn’t want to just run out the door if there was a murderer on the loose or some gang of killers outside, so I stood by the door and listened for further commotion. Several minutes went by and then I heard someone run up the stairs and knock on a door. I stood waiting to hear if it would be safe to open the door. Then there was silence. I could hear some sirens in the distance, but the sound of the sirens didn’t seem to be coming towards the University. I stood there wondering if someone was going to do something, what if someone was seriously hurt or worse? I looked out of our deck window and I could see students walking around the campus. What were they doing up in the middle of the night and didn’t they hear the screams? A short time later the mystery was solved. First of all I learned it was only about 10:00pm and not the middle of the night (I might add that it was 2am in Colorado however, so I wasn’t completely crazy). I then learned that that there are many Korean girls on Campus. It turns out many Koreans of the female persuasion are simply terrified of cockroaches, and apparently when they see cockroaches and try to smash them they scream horrible screams. All that commotion over a cockroach. Though I must admit they are quite unattractive to say the least. Oh well, welcome to Hawaii.

At the playground Bostyn models for her Birthday

Bostyn celebrates #6!

Bostyn’s 6th

Bostyn catches a gecko
Bostyn had quite a fun Birthday. She went snorkeling at the beach, saw the movie “Madagascar”, destroyed a robot Piñata, and later went swimming again at a pool. Brenda made the Robot Piñata out of a cereal box, milk cartons and tin foil…it was very cool.

Only a few more weeks!
The countdown has begun. Brenda is due July 17. She is doing well although she is definitely in her 9th month and at this point it is hard for her to find any comfortable position. We are all excited and anxious to meet our newest family member.

There are some more cool developments happening with Mission Geographic that I will be passing along soon. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.

Sincerely,

The Franks
