A night with the Franks tomorrow night
We are having a dessert get together for our friends and family at Mill Creek Four Square this Friday May 27th at 7pm. We will be sharing more about our future direction as well as showing a presentation of Mission Geographic. We would love to see you before we leave for Kona. To get to the church you take the Mill Creek 164th St exit. For those coming north: you just take a right off the exit and then take a left at the first light and you are there. For those coming south: you just take a left off the exit and then take a left at the first light and you are there. Here is a link with directions to the church: http://www.mc4square.org/MainPage.htm

Next Stop Kona!
We will be flying to Kona this Tuesday May 31st where we will be joining the University of Nations for the summer. I will be continuing development of Mission Geographic while also working with the U of N web development team. Brenda will be spending the summer taking care of the newest edition of our family, she is due in July.

What are the odds? Another amazing Mission Geographic story
Mission Geographic is a ministry designed to aid long term missionaries by filming and editing documentaries to raise awareness of their needs. The main web page is currently under development, but when Mission Geographic goes online it will host video documentaries and news for several different missionaries from all denominations. Brenda and I founded this ministry in 2005 and have made a full time/5 year commitment to lead it.

Here's the latest...
Recently I completed the final designs for the Mission Geographic web page. Unfortunately when I went to purchase mission geographic.com I found that it had just been purchased. I decide to contact the new owner of mission geographic.com to see if he would consider selling or giving the name to me. Shortly after my inquiry I received a response from the owner, a man named Mario Chang. Amazingly, Mario informed me that God had given him the same exact vision and that he was developing the same ministry. Brenda and I have only shared the Mission Geographic ministry with our family and friends, so for someone to have the same idea and the same name is extraordinary. Even the way that Mario decided on the name "Mission Geographic" was the same. Mario is a film editor and producer, he also has access to print equipment for magazines and newsletters.

This is such an amazing story. Here is a portion of the e-mail I received from Mario:

"Dear David,
My name is Mario Zie Chang. God blessed me with the exact same idea he gave to you. I'm about to start a ministry with my father who is a minister in Killeen Texas. We want to do the exact same thing, helping missionaries and also educating the senders and whoever is interested. We want to show the glory of God through Mission Geographic. I'm a graphics engineer/photographer, and my part is to go out and document God's work through Mission Geographic. I have couple of direct print resources to also publish a magazine.

Your vision is exactly identical. My passion is in all kinds of media, and I too want to use MG to document God's Glory to share it with the entire world. I was even thinking about not only missionaries but also about God's wonderful creation...the life on the planet, archeology tied to the bible, ancient life styles from biblical times and such...One thing that God convicts me of is that Christianity often times is so exclusive and I would like to be not like that as well. I wanted to start with photography and then gradually include video as well. I also love movies and I would like to make some good thoughtful movies as well. I don't know how yet, but I don't think God gave me ideas just because. We should definitely somehow work together...I don't think it's an accident.

I had MG in mind for quite some time....I think it was about 5-6 years ago. I was involved back then with a small ministry called Joshua Multimedia Mission, and we had a brainstorm session, and at one time I jokingly said" hey how about Mission Geographic....like National Geographic..." I came home that night and I thought it actually was a good idea and then for six years I've been thinking about it praying about it, sharing about it and I kept checking on-line every now and then if someone had the same idea....I thought MG is a very common name so somebody would have registered....but for some reason nobody did. Finally a couple of months ago I just went ahead and registered. I shared it with my father, and he thought it was a great ministry idea and my sisters would like to get involved as well. We didn't know how exactly, so we decided to start praying about it more seriously. We are about to write down our mission statement, support letters and such. I planned to go to china this year and I wanted to use the opportunity to get more material for MG but it seems like I cannot go because of work reasons...so I was a little bit down...and then this happens..It gave me such an encouragement. I don't know if I'm going to China, but I know for sure that God has something planned. Who knows, maybe I can fly to Kona for about two weeks instead..."

...So that's the latest development. Brenda and I are excited at the possibility of uniting ministries with Mario and his family. When God first gave us the vision of mission geographic it was clear that it was not our idea. We are thankful to just be a part of the amazing ministry and this is just the beginning...

Celebrating 12 years of marriage!

Brenda and I will be celebrating 12 years of marriage in June. 12 years of marriage, can you believe it? It certainly doesn't seem like 12 years. Time has really flown by. We have had great adventures so far and are excited to see what lies ahead. (This picture was taken in September the day we left for our DTS in Colorado).

Frank Journal is now online!
You can find out more about Mission Geographic, read a much more in depth "frank journal", and view over 50 pictures of our adventures over the last year by clicking here: www.frankjournal.com As you read about Mission Geographic throughout our webpage please pray and consider being a part of our team. Youth with a Mission is a non profit organization where no one receives pay or salary. Each volunteer finds friends and family members to help support them and join in their cause. We are currently looking for financial supporters who would like to be more involved in missions.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support!

Sincerely,
