2005 Greetings from Weston Colorado! I would like to start by thanking you for all of your encouragement and support. I finished the Morph (Leadership School) just over two weeks ago and I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of this school. The leaders that I shared class with everyday were great influences and I feel I made some lifelong friendships here at the school. I had the privilege of attending this school with long term missionaries to Afghanistan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Cuba, Russia, and Africa. Each week a new speaker would fly into our secluded (and muddy) location and bring us a wealth of wisdom and teachings. I was able to spend a great amount of time developing what God had put on my heart a year ago. The project is entitled "Mission Geographic". The purpose of this project is to bring greater attention to long term missionaries and their spiritual and financial needs. I would really appreciate it if you would spend a little time in prayer for us at your upcoming Wednesday meeting this week. Brenda and I were invited to stay here in Colorado during "YWAMs 50 days of prayer and fasting". This Wednesday Brenda and I are going to spend the day in prayer asking for God's direction. We have had many doors opened to us here in the past two months and all of them have sounded very inviting (this is a fun dilemma by the way, to contrast all the doors that were closing for us in Washington). First Brenda and I were asked to strongly consider staying here for the EARS school (Environment and Resource School) we are both highly interested in this school because of the practical way the teachings can be used to help those in third world countries to sustain their own environment. We did not feel that this was the time to attend the school, however. Especially since the outreach would be in July when Brenda is due. The DTS director here also asked if Brenda and I would consider staffing the Spring DTS. This was another great option and we would love to staff a DTS, but once again the timing didn't seem right at all. Shortly after the DTS offer I received a very intriguing invitation. It was during the final week of MORPH when all the students gave presentations on their projects. A man named Andy Huddleston was in town that week. Andy is a veteran staff member at the YWAM Kona Hawaii base and author of the book "White knuckle faith". Andy has a strong vision to bring greater attention to missionaries and their financial and spiritual needs. While Andy was here he attended my presentation and immediately asked Brenda and I to come and work with him in Kona. It turns out that Andy is working on a very similar project to "Mission Geographic". It was an exciting week to hang out with Andy and hear his vision. He said that he knows of only four other full time YWAMer's (out of 17,000) who have this same vision and the odds of him being at the base that week are staggering. A greater enticement was the fact that I would be working right next to the Kona film studio (where much of the work for David Cunningham's film "To End all Wars" was done). Needless to say that seemed like the obvious choice. However, that same week the director of this base asked if I would consider basing Mission Geographic from here (in Weston). Both he and his wife strongly encouraged us to stay on as full time staff. Their is a great need at this base right now and Randy (the director) feels that Brenda and I could be a great help to the base. On top of that, both he and his wife have every connection that I would possibly need to put together a national tour to raise support for missionaries as well as arranging an international tour to film documentaries for missionaries. I greatly admire Randy and would love to work with him and have his support. Brenda and I love the people at this base and would love to help in anyway possible. I am also highly interested in attending the 9 month School of Biblical Studies here in September. So that is our dilemma (although it obviously isn't really a dilemma, just some really cool choices) Brenda and I will be spending the day in prayer seeking Gods direction (if we fly to Hawaii it would have to be before June because of Brenda's due date). I must say that I am overjoyed with any of these possibilities, and I don't really feel like there is a "wrong" decision here. I feel like God will bless either of these choices. We are just praying that God will show us His direction, there may even be a different direction he has for us right now, we haven't discounted Seattle (I don't want to discount any possibility). I would appreciate it if you would pray that Brenda and I would be listening attentively on Wednesday and please let us know if you feel God speak to you any verses or words for us during this time of prayer. Thank you for taking the time to do this. We were really blessed by the time we had with you in December. I will keep you all updated, and I am hoping to have a newsletter out this week. Thanks again. Love, David Morph 2005 |
